or 227,000 flood victims. i support the bill as a recovery from superstorm sandy. i believe the actions are still slow. 68 days have gone by. i know we have got commitments, but we are moving forwards and i am hopeful we will get the full entitlements the individuals from new york, new jersey, and connecticut finally need. some of the programs that need funding include engineers who work to protect new jersey's and york's shorelines. i want to thank every member of the new york, connecticut, and new jersey delegations for working collectively together to make sure our people -- because this as an issue that affects the american people -- they receive the kind of aid they need. i want to say to my friends mr. -- i have seenne they have set and work together with our governor, who i also want to give a thank you to, mario cuomo and chris christie -- working cooperatively, not as a democrat or republican, but as an elected official, to come together for people that need aid from a terrible storm. i am hopeful we will need store work -- move forward. finally the people of this region receiv

sort of sandy hair dye. john would get furious at him because he did not do what he wanted and he is one of those precise people who has been really good to me and when my husband died he was there, came to receiving that night. he has always been there for me. he went to washington for the bill signing. that is interesting too. he was in court and his wife, he had a system that worked. a plane ticket from atlanta to washington to baltimore because her mother lives in baltimore. she flew in -- there's a thousand dollar plane ticket waiting for you, you fly out there and go to that bill signing. he really had a good time. he enjoyed himself and got a lot out of people and it was good but somebody asked what he did for clothes. he said he didn't have a bag, but started at oxford. he had fresh clothes and it was good. he was hair, a washington attorney was there and cam russell went to italy with me because john was the first choice because he couldn't end court trial and he didn't go and his harvard student, he lost the biggest case of his life and won a trip to italy. i tell people

sandy victims looking to the 113th congress house speaker john boener nearly won reelection 12 of the most conservative republicans in the house defected. it was the closest any speaker had come to losing since new gingrich back in 1997. but this congress has more women and latinos than ever before. illinois is sending six freshmen to congress this year, five democrats and one republican notables include tami duckworth who defeated joe walsh and bill foster rodney davis from taylor is the only republican freshman from illinois. coming soon it will have to consider raising the nation's debt ceiling again and there is a looming fight over gun control which recently became a high priority for the white house after the massacre in newtown connecticut the polls show only a small percentage of americans approve of the job congress is doing. the average age for u.s. senators to 62. house bill #6258 which addresses the problem may not be perfect and it may be challenged in court but it deserves to be embraced and acted on now. we cannot kick the can down the road in the longer becaus

since the sandy hook shooting less than a month ago. joining us now is kirsten powers from the daily beast and carol roth, radio show host. start with you, kirsten. i think that the president will use an executive order to ram through restrictions on assault weapons, high capacity magazines and universal background checks, i think he'll do it and win on this one. what say you? >> well, they certainly have talks about doing that, but remains to be seen. i'm the not going to be so certain that's what he's going to do. i do want to comment on those, the things that the n.r.a. has been saying. i'm not sure what they expect the vice-president to talk to them about. they're the n.r.a. so it seems like he would speak to them about guns. it doesn't mean that he's not looking at other aspects of this, as you mentioned's meeting with the video game industry and hollywood people and hopefully a mental health component to this, but for the n.r.a. to come out and say all he did was focus on guns. when you're meeting with the national rifle association what you're talking about is guns. stuart: th
